I was out of my mind excited when I saw there was a new La Luz south of Old Town, and it was in fact the same restaurant that I love so much. La Luz in Old Town is a staple for me in FoCo, but navigating that area on the weekend can be a real pain in the butt. I'll keep this short, as my review for the original spot sums it up best. Bottom line is, this location is just as great as the Old Town spot. The service is super friendly, and the food is outstanding. I stopped in for a steak quesadilla after running the Horsetooth Half, and just as always, the steak was tender and well seasoned, the cheese was delicious, and the tortilla was perfectly crispy. Their salsa bar still rocks, and their chips are still delicious. This is well worth a visit as it's as good as the original location, easier to get to, and likely less crowded. Well worth checking out!

First time to try their bacon burrito and it was mighty tasty, freshly made, great service BUT it was appalling to watch the lone cook make breakfast burritos bare handed, in between handling cash, credit cards, more cash and more burritos. No gloves. No handwashing. Nothing hygienic or appetizing about that. First time = my last time.

Enchiladas were the worst I've had in a while. Shrimp was very overcooked. The potato fish burrito wasn't bad but nothing amazing. They charge extra for sour cream and/or guacamole as well as chips. They have an assortment of salsas which are also mediocre.

I recommend the rellenos. Super delicious. Everything is made fresh. Also $2 drafts on Thursdays Salsa bar is great too. Lots of different options for all heat levels.

I ordered the al pastor tacos and a telenovela on the side. Both were super bland... But the girl who took my order was nice. Save some money and just go to chipotle...

Great atmosphere with very laid back feel. The best seat in the house is by the front window if you're a people watching person. I had the Yelp check in free salsa and chips which the server knew about. We had the street tacos which where very good! I would also recommend the quesadillas, they are tasty also. Overall a great place to chill and relax with great food!

Food is forgettable and just overall meh. I went here because I had a coupon and wanted to try it for the first time and was pretty disappointed so I was glad that I didn't have to pay full price. Not planning on coming back, there are better restaurants in Fort Collins with the same price range.

The Potato Burrito is BOMB!!! And in the home of Big City Burrito, they compete well with BC, as their Potato Burrito is about the same size, and definitely of the same quality! The new remodel of the place is ok, though now it looks like some ritzy bar, I liked it more when it looked like a hole in the wall with a kitchen. Oh well, it seems that the food is still as good! Definitely worth a shot if you want a HUGE burrito!!!

Great food. Very fresh ingredients and made to order. The Quesadilla was great, very filing. Carnitas were delicious also.

Really nice staff here. They seem like they enjoy working there. Kids eat free on Sundays. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. Different owners from the old town one, but great food. Go here!

Best fish tacos! Great service and smiles. This place should be on some national best list. Plus some extra extra good salsa. I enjoyed the Super hot salsa, which was not that super hot, but was super good. I will recommend this place to everyone.

Can't quite put my finger on what exactly changed but things aren't as good as they used to be. The last few visits the fish tacos just don't seem to be as flavorful and the corn salsa seems off. Today's order was blah. I was in a rush one morning and they were out of bacon burritos. Instead of waiting for a fresh one, for the first time I had a chorizo. Not so good, overpowering seasoning and it had been sitting. I'll give it another chance but surprisingly for me, I won't order the fish tacos next time.

Gross. This is seriously NOT Mexican food. The "fajita veggies" in my bowl included carrots and broccoli.

This used to be my favorite place in town, but they've been steadily slipping the past few months. Orders are wrong, they rarely open on time, and now they don't do 2 for $5 breakfast burritos on the weekend anymore ($7-8!). Seems like a new let down every time for a restaurant I've plugging for two years! Management, if you're reading this, whip your crew into shape!!!

They make you big ass burritos. I've only been there once and since I've been there, its attained this weird, mythical, legendary status in my mind. Its like a hazy dream of this place where they have the best burritos, but its not real. Its like an amalgam of a bunch of places I've been before, mashed together in this hyperlucid dream of the greatest burrito joint. I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I swear I'm not high. All I can really remember is that I had the best burrito I've ever had there. It was some beef and potato monstrosity and I doused it in salsa from the salsa bar. I feel like I'm building it up to Odin-esque proportions and you're gonna go there and its "not [gonna be] as good as that asshxle on Yelp said it was." You're gonna backlash against all this hype... So I'm just gonna stop.

This is my go-to place for good burritos and other Mexican-ish food. The fish tacos are grilled and great. For a no meat option, try the spinach and black bean quesadilla. Also, get yourself some chips and check out the salsa bar. This isn't Taco Bell style fast food. You're going to wait a couple extra minutes, because they're making everything fresh.

Food is not memorable, but I ordered a Margarita with lunch once and I was trashed. I had to walk it off before going home. Holy crap.

Great Tex-Mex for a decent price, and very friendly service. We've been here twice in the ten days since we moved here.

I originally was a little disappointed the first time I went there. It was for breakfast on a week day and I didn't realize they only serve premade burritos during the week. Since then I have had two different burritos for lunch and both tasted great. Beware, to go orders, call ahead of time so you don't have to stand around for a half hour, they can be a little slow. Enjoy the salsa bar, it's very good.

I had the fish dinner and loved it!! Great salsa selection, The salsa Borracha was favorite. I'm from Chicago and was very pleasantly surprise to find good Mexican food here.

The good here is wonderful, but the lack of service is astonishing. The host taking the order is rude and lacking the skills to do her job. Didn't even bother to tell me my orders number so I could pick up my food, or tell any of the customers behind me their numbers. However, the Latina lady who cooked my food was a delight. I'd come back, but only for the food.

I'm from CA so I'm harsh when it comes to judging the Mexican food in CO. Their plates are good, but not amazing. This location does not offer their "street taco" menu like the one downtown and it is the only reason I don't eat there. Go to the downtown one and get the carne asada tacos. To die for!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
